Topcon LS-B110W Pro Discontinued – Here’s What Replaces It (and a Better Alternative)

When Topcon announced the discontinuation of the LS-B110W Pro Machine Receiver, it left many contractors wondering what to buy next. This model was a workhorse in the field — tough, reliable, and packed with practical features that made grading and excavation faster and more accurate.

Let’s break down what made the LS-B110W Pro special, what has replaced it, and why the Spectra Precision LR50W might actually be the smarter long-term investment.

What Made the Topcon LS-B110W PRO - So Good

The LS-B110W Pro was a full-featured machine receiver designed to mount directly to dozers, excavators, skid steers, and backhoes. When paired with a rotary laser, it detected the laser beam and displayed whether your cutting edge or bucket was high, low, or on-grade — eliminating the guesswork that slows production.

Key Features of the LS-B110W Pro

  • 9.8-inch capture height – huge detection window that locks onto the laser quickly

  • Plumb indication – critical for excavator work, ensuring the boom is perfectly upright before taking grade readings

  • Tilt indication – helps dozer and skid steer operators know when the blade is level or sloped left/right

  • Wireless in-cab display (RD-100W) – lets operators see grade status directly in front of them without looking outside the cab

  • Rugged construction – built for heavy equipment vibration and weather exposure

Together, the LS-B110W receiver and RD-100W display gave operators the freedom to work faster and safer without relying on spotters or constant grade checks.

The New Replacement: Topcon LS-B200W

The direct replacement for the LS-B110W Pro is the Topcon LS-B200W. It’s built on the same physical platform and offers nearly identical performance.

What’s the Same

  • Same 9.8-inch capture height

  • Same plumb and tilt indication

  • Same mounting options – magnetic mount or dozer mast

  • Same range, accuracy, and durability

What’s New

The difference is in the wireless technology.
The LS-B110W Pro used a dedicated RD-100W display. That system has been discontinued and is not compatible with the new LS-B200W.

Instead, the LS-B200W uses Bluetooth and the Topcon Laser Manager App, available for both Android and iOS. Once downloaded (a one-time $100 license per device), you can use a smartphone or tablet as your in-cab display.

This modernizes the setup — same functionality, but now you can monitor your receiver on a device you already own. The app replicates the old RD-100W screen layout, showing high/low/on-grade status wirelessly in the cab.

A Powerful Alternative: Spectra Precision LR50W

For contractors who still prefer a dedicated wireless in-cab display, Spectra Precision offers the LR50W series — a true alternative that matches or exceeds the LS-B110W Pro in most ways.

Spectra LR50W Highlights

  • Wireless in-cab display included (RD20) – no extra app or software license required

  • Plumb indication – ideal for excavator arm alignment

  • Tilt indication – shows blade tilt left/right for dozers and skid steers

  • 360° reception window – tracks the laser even when slightly off target

  • Large capture zone – slightly smaller than Topcon’s 9.8", but compensates by “tracking” the laser signal and guiding you back automatically

  • Audible tones – Fast Beep = High, Slow Beep = Low, Solid Tone = On-Grade — lets operators focus on the work, not the display

  • Lower total cost – includes RD20 display, no $99 app purchase required

This system functions just like the Topcon LS-B110W Pro did — a rugged, all-in-one machine control setup with real-time visual and audible feedback.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve relied on the Topcon LS-B110W Pro for years, the natural upgrade path is the LS-B200W, giving you nearly identical performance with Bluetooth and app-based monitoring.

However, if you want a true wireless display system like the original RD-100W setup — with physical hardware and no software fees — the Spectra Precision LR50W is the better choice. It offers every key feature (plumb, tilt, 360° reception, audible alerts) and costs less overall.

Both systems pair perfectly with Topcon or Spectra rotary lasers, making them top-tier solutions for excavation, grading, and finish work.
