What’s the Real-World Difference?

Both models are functionally identical in slope range, red beam visibility, app control, and waterproofing. The difference comes down to one thing:

➤ Plumb Light System (Bottom vs. Top/Bottom)

✅ TP-L6G (1034437-06): LED Plumb Only (Bottom)

• Has a bright Orange LED dot straight down from the base of the laser.

• Helps align the laser with a reference point (like a spike or manhole mark) before you start the job.

• Only shines downward — no overhead reference.

• Centerline LED shows you if the beam is exactly centered when sighting from behind — super handy in open trench setups.

• Great for: Sanitary lines, straight-line setups, or anytime you’re setting grade from the bottom and working forward.

✅ TP-L6GV (1034437-09): Red Laser Plumb (Top and Bottom)

• Shoots a precision green laser dot upward AND downward.

• Gives you both a floor mark and a ceiling/overhead mark.

• Perfect when working with drop manholes, vertical pipe jacks, or when you need to line up your laser from overhead reference points.

• Great for: Utility contractors, municipal crews, or jobs with overhead benchmarks.

Centerline LED — What It Is and Why It Matters (Only on TP-L6G)

The Centerline LED is a small light on the back of the laser that tells you when the laser beam is exactly aligned with the mechanical center of the pipe laser.

• It’s especially useful when you're lining up from behind the laser in open trench work.

• Saves time and reduces guesswork when nudging the laser side to side before starting slope.

The TP-L6GV doesn’t include this Centerline LED, but it does offer the top plumb laser, which is more helpful in vertical setups.

✅ Which One Should You Choose?

• If you’re always working from the ground and don’t need to align with an overhead point:
  → Go with the TP-L6G (1034437-06). The Centerline LED is actually more useful for most trench crews.

• If you ever need to align vertically (like top-down setups, manhole drops, or vertical control):
  → The TP-L6GV (1034437-09) gives you both top and bottom plumb lasers, which can make or break the job.
