Is the DISTO Plan app free?

Yes, the Leica DISTO Plan app is free to download on iOS and Android. There are no subscription fees. The full feature set, including P2P functions, is available at no cost once you have a compatible DISTO device.

Which DISTO models work with DISTO Plan?

DISTO Plan is compatible with multiple DISTO models: D1, D2, X3, D5, e7500i, and the DISTO X6. The DISTO X6 is the only model that supports ALL features in DISTO Plan, including the advanced P2P functions (Measure Plan, Measure 3D, Measure Facade, Earthworks). These P2P features also require the DST 360-X adapter.

What does the Smart Room feature do?

Smart Room creates a complete floor plan from a single measurement station. Stand in the middle of a room, connect the DISTO X6, and measure each wall corner clockwise (or counterclockwise). DISTO Plan records each measurement and the angle between consecutive measurements, then assembles the data into an accurate scaled floor plan automatically. The DISTO X6's built-in tilt sensor and angle measurement enable Smart Room.

What is Measure Plan mode and when should I use it?

Measure Plan is the P2P-based floor plan mode — the most powerful floor plan creation tool in DISTO Plan. Using the DISTO X6 mounted on the DST 360-X, you capture the 3D coordinates of every room corner from a single tripod station. The result is a dimensionally accurate floor plan including all openings (doors, windows). Use Measure Plan for documentation work where Smart Room isn't sufficient — complex rooms, large spaces, or work requiring DXF output.

Does DISTO Plan export to AutoCAD?

Yes. DISTO Plan exports floor plans and 3D data as DXF or DWG files — the native format for AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, and most other CAD software. DXF export is available from the Measure Plan, Measure 3D, and Measure Facade modes. Export to PDF is also available for all modes.

What is the Earthworks function?

Earthworks is a volume measurement function available in DISTO Plan with P2P support. It captures the three-dimensional shape of an excavation, stockpile, or irregular surface and calculates the volume. This is particularly useful for civil contractors, landscapers, and grading professionals who need accurate volume calculations without survey-grade equipment.

What is the Relocation function?

Relocation allows you to move the measurement station (tripod position) and continue measuring the same project. Without Relocation, each tripod setup is a separate measurement session. With Relocation, you set up at a new position, take a few reference measurements to known points, and DISTO Plan recalibrates the new station's position relative to the original coordinate system. This enables measuring large buildings from multiple setups and assembling all data into one consistent model.

Can DISTO Plan measure building facades?

Yes. The Measure Facade mode captures exterior building face dimensions — window locations, wall heights, structural features — from a ground-level position using the DISTO X6 and DST 360-X. Data exports as DXF. This is particularly useful for passive house documentation, historic building surveys, and renovation planning.

How do I connect the DISTO X6 to DISTO Plan?

Enable Bluetooth on your phone or tablet. In DISTO Plan, tap the Bluetooth icon and select your DISTO X6 from the discovered devices. The first time, you may need to pair using the code on the DISTO display. Once paired, the connection is automatic on subsequent sessions.

What happens if I lose my DISTO Plan data?

DISTO Plan automatically saves project data on your device. Projects can be backed up by exporting them to DXF/DWG/PDF. If you are using cloud storage (iCloud on iOS, Google Drive on Android), project files sync automatically. We recommend exporting critical projects to DXF immediately after completion as an additional backup.
