What is the maximum measuring range of the Leica DISTO X6?

The DISTO X6 measures up to 250 meters (820 ft) in favorable conditions (good reflectivity, indoor or low ambient light). In unfavorable conditions (outdoor bright light, dark surfaces), the effective range is 150 meters (500 ft). The 4× Pointfinder camera helps you aim accurately at distance.

What does P2P mean and what does it require?

P2P stands for Point-to-Point measurement — the ability to calculate the straight-line distance between two arbitrary points in space without touching either one. On the DISTO X6, P2P requires the DST 360-X tripod adapter (included in the P2P Package). Without the DST 360-X, the X6 is a powerful standard LDM but cannot perform P2P measurements.

The X6 measures to ±1.0 mm (1/16") accuracy in favorable conditions (good target reflectivity, stable temperature). In unfavorable conditions, accuracy is ±2.0 mm (1/8"). P2P measurement tolerance is ±5mm at 5m and ±10mm at 10m span.

Is the DISTO X6 waterproof?

Yes. The DISTO X6 carries an IP65 rating — fully dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. It also has 2m drop protection (IK04). It is safe for regular outdoor use in rain and construction environments.

What is the battery life of the DISTO X6?

The DISTO X6 uses a rechargeable Li-Ion 2,000mAh battery. Expect up to 4,000 measurements or approximately 8 hours of operation per charge. The battery charges via USB.

Does the DISTO X6 work in direct sunlight?

Yes, but performance depends on range and target. The 4× Pointfinder camera helps you see the laser dot at long distances in ambient light. For ranges beyond 100m in bright sunlight, using the included GZM 3 target plate significantly improves reliability.

What is the Gesture Trigger feature?

Gesture Trigger (or Gesture-Activated Measurement) lets you trigger a measurement by waving your hand in front of the DISTO. This eliminates the need to press the ON/DIST button, which can wobble the laser at long range. Set up the shot, step back, wave — measurement fires without contact.

How does the Pointfinder Camera work?

The DISTO X6 has a built-in 4× optical zoom camera displayed on the 2.8" touchscreen. Before taking a measurement, you can see a magnified live view of the laser dot on the target surface. This is essential for accurate targeting at 50m+ distances, especially outdoors.

What is the difference between the DISTO X6 and X6 P2P Package?

The DISTO X6 is the device only. The X6 P2P Package bundles the DISTO X6 with the DST 360-X tiltable adapter, TRI 120 tripod, GZM 3 target plate, and metaBOX case — everything needed for P2P measurement out of the box. If you want P2P capability, the P2P Package is what you need.
