Before you order — does your receiver have the radio?
The RD20 only works with a wireless-capable receiver: the
LR30W, LR50W or LR60W. It will not pair with an LR20, LR30, LR50 or LR60.
The two look identical from the front, which is why this
catches people out. The check takes two seconds:
Look at the back of the receiver
A wireless model carries a radio compliance label on the back, and the case is
marked. No label, no radio.
Already had an RD20 before?
If you are replacing one you lost or broke, you are fine — your receiver is a
wireless model. Order away.
If it turns out you have a non-wireless receiver, buying the wireless
model is the better move. Fitting a radio to an existing receiver means sending it
back to the factory, waiting without it, and paying enough that it does not make sense next
to the price of the right receiver.

The part operators notice first
You do not have to look at it.
The RD20 beeps grade the same way a receiver on a grade rod does —
one tone for high, one for on grade, one for low. The operator keeps their
eyes on the boom, the bucket and where the machine is going, and follows grade by ear.
That is the whole argument for putting the display in the cab. Watching a
receiver out on the mast means looking away from the work. Listening to it means you
never do.

The Spectra Precision® RD20 Wireless Remote Display provides grade information in the cab of the machine for easy operator viewing.
