Topcon RL-200 1S Single Grade Laser Package
Works on both horizontal and vertical axes, the Topcon RL-200 1S Single Grade Laser is great for geopositioning, land surveying, geospatial monitoring, construction, surveying, layout, foundation and other exterior construction applications. With an accuracy of horizontal ±7 arc seconds, this offers an operating range up to 3,600 feet with a laser receiver. Also, it is auto-leveling within ±5 degrees and has a wide single grade range of -5 to +25 percent.
When using the beam masking mode, the RL-200 1S allows multiple teams doing measurements from conflicting with other readings. For more accuracy, it comes with adjustable rotation speeds of 300, 600 or 900 rotations per minute. Also, it has a height-of-instrument alert function to prevent errors and mistakes in leveling.
The Topcon RL-200 1S includes a high contrast LCD graphical display that makes it easier to track data. With an IP66 rating, this Topcon grade laser is protected from dust and water splashes. Also, it runs up to 100 hours with alkaline batteries and up to 90 hours with the included rechargeable NiMH batteries. As an extra feature, it includes a 5/8-11 tripod thread that is compatible with most tripod brands.

The Topcon LS-100D Receiver sensor digitally displays the offset value to on-grade, which is designed to help make elevation and vertical alignment control easier and faster for any application.
The LS-100D features an extra-wide beam capture sensor that also rejects annoying interference from strobe light exposures. “The large and bright LCD displays (front and back) feature 9-channels of grade information and digitally display the distance to on-grade. By pressing the hold button, the display is locked so the user can conveniently read the results.”
The sensor offers three colored LED’s and a magnet mount for vertical operation, which is designed to be useful for steel erection or operator grade-checking while excavating. Alert icons appear on the LCD if the accompanying Topcon rotating laser instrument is disturbed (HI alert) or when the laser battery is low.

Topcon RL-200 1S — Straight Answers

How accurate is the Topcon RL-200 1S?
Topcon rates it at ±7 arc seconds. In plain terms that is about 3/64 inch at 100 feet (1 mm at 30 m), and about 5/64 inch at 200 feet. It self-levels when it is set up within ±5° of level.
What grade can it set?
Single slope, entered on the control panel.
How far does it reach?
About 6 to 3,600 ft (2 to 1,100 m) in diameter with the LS-80X receiver. Topcon rates that range with the LS-80L, and the LS-80X is its direct replacement with the same specifications. With the LS-110D digital receiver it is about 2,620 ft (800 m) or more, per Topcon’s LS-110D specifications.
Which rotation speed should I use?
It runs at 300, 600 or 900 rpm. Use 600 rpm or faster with a machine receiver, so the display updates quickly enough to follow on a moving machine.
How long do the batteries last?
About 90 hours on the Ni-MH BT-67Q pack, or about 100 hours on four D-cell alkalines, at 68°F. A full charge takes about seven hours.
What if I forget to charge it?
You keep working. Per the Topcon manual the BT-67Q pack can be charged while the laser is running, and the pack can be lifted out of the DB-75C holder and replaced with four D-cell alkaline batteries.
Can I use it in the rain?
Yes. It is rated IP66 for dust and water, and works from -4°F to 122°F.
What happens if the tripod gets bumped?
With the safety lock, also called height alert, switched on, the laser stops auto-leveling when its setup is disturbed. The head either stops or turns slowly to warn you, so you never shoot grade from a moved setup. Turn it off and on to re-level.
Can I block the beam in one direction?
Yes. Beam masking shuts the laser off in the directions you choose, so it will not disturb another laser or a crew working nearby.
What does it weigh, and what tripod does it fit?
About 7.9 lb with the BT-67Q pack, or 7.5 lb with dry cells. It fits a standard 5/8 x 11 tripod, flat or dome head.
Is it a Class 3R laser?
Yes. Topcon classifies the RL-200 as a Class 3R visible red laser product.
