GR1000MCF
10-Foot Direct Reading Laser Rod
GR1000MCF — Metric (3 Meter) + Cut & Fill • Lenker Style • True Elevation • No Math Required
Range:
5'10½" – 10'1¾"
|
Scale:
Metric (3 Meter)
▶ What Is “Direct Reading” / “True Elevation” / “Lenker Style”?
Short answer: you read the actual elevation right off the rod — no math, no adding, no subtracting.
A standard laser rod gives you a reading from the bottom of the rod. To get the true ground elevation you have to do arithmetic every single shot: Benchmark + Backsight − Rod Reading = Elevation. Over a long day, on a big site, mistakes add up fast.
A Lenker-style (Direct Reading / True Elevation) rod flips that. You set the moveable tape face so it already accounts for your benchmark elevation. After that, every reading you take is the actual elevation above sea level — just read the number and write it down. Your laser detector tells your rod worker the spot, and the number on the tape face is the answer.
The GR1000MCF is scaled in Metric (3 Meter) — ideal for metric jobsites and crews who work in meters — and adds a cut & fill scale so you can read how much material needs to come off (cut) or go on (fill) in a single shot, with no separate calculation.
Bottom line for contractors: Lenker rods turn a two-person math exercise into a one-step read. Faster, fewer errors, more shots per hour.

▶ What Does “Cut & Fill” Mean?
Cut & Fill tells you in one shot how much material to remove or add — no extra math needed.
On earthwork and grading jobs, you’re constantly asking: “How far off grade am I?” With a standard rod you’d read the elevation, compare it to your target grade elevation, and subtract. Every. Single. Shot.
The MCF tape has color-coded cut & fill markings built right into the metric scale. After you set the tape to your benchmark, the rod face shows you whether you’re above grade (cut) or below grade (fill) and by exactly how much — in metric. Your rod worker reads the answer directly; your equipment operator gets the call instantly.
Who needs Cut & Fill? Sitework contractors, road builders, foundation crews, landscapers — anyone doing earthwork to a design grade on a metric jobsite.

▶ Understanding the Dot System on the GR1000MCF Metric Tape
The GR1000MCF metric tape has THREE sections designated by dots: •, ••, •••
Because the metric tape spans 3 meters across the working range of the rod, it is divided into three 1-meter sections, each marked with a dot symbol so your rod worker always knows which section the detector is reading in:
• (one dot) — first meter section
•• (two dots) — second meter section
••• (three dots) — third meter section
Important: Set your initial elevation using the •• (two-dot) section. This centers the tape on the rod’s working range, giving you the maximum adjustment room in both directions and ensuring accurate cut & fill readings across the full job.
