Turn the Piper into an above-ground laser
Inside the pipe, the Piper sits on its self-centering feet and the target tells you where the line is. Over the top, on a tripod or trivet above the trench, you need to sight the line by eye. The 746160 puts a 4 × 28 scope on the Piper so you can do that accurately.
Leica describes it as the optional scope and mounting kit that adapts the Piper for above-ground applications. The mount has screw holes for a firm, solid attachment to the laser, and the scope gives fine adjustment for aligning.
When the Piper is not in the pipe

Sight the line when the Piper is set up above ground, on a tripod or the trivet, instead of in the pipe.

Magnifies the far end of the run, a manhole or a target, so you can line up accurately at distance.
Bolt-on mount
