iDig TOUCH 2D LITE
Wireless solar sensors, an in-cab LED bargraph and a touchscreen tablet — all three — digging to ± 1 cm, the same accuracy as iDig's flagship. This is the least expensive way into real 2D machine control we know of, and it installs in an afternoon.
Contractors-Tools.com is an authorized iDig dealer. Call 1-877-866-5721 and we will spec it against your excavator before you order.
Everything You Need To Dig To Grade
- SoftwareTOUCH 2D LITE operating software — installed, nothing further to buy
- Control box1× touchscreen control box, mounted in the cab
- Bargraph1× LED bargraph — green, red and orange, in your field of vision
- Sensors2× mini angle sensors, with magnetic mounting plates
- Laser1× angle / laser receiver sensor, with mounting plate
- Chassis1× mini chassis sensor, with mounting plate
- Cables3× quick-connect cables, including the 12/24 V cigarette lighter power lead
- Calibration1× calibration kit
The same component set as the full iDig TOUCH 2D. The difference between the two systems is in the software, not in the box — which is why LITE holds the same ± 1 cm accuracy.
Everything The Everyday Work Needs
Trenching, foundations, drainage, utilities, site prep — the jobs an excavator does week in and week out. LITE carries all of it.
The touchscreen in the cab shows depth and distance to target as you dig. Nobody stands in the hole with a grade rod.
Horizontal, single slope and dual slope are all included. Set the target from the seat and the LED bargraph holds you on it.
Not "close to". The same accuracy iDig publishes for the full TOUCH 2D, because the hardware is the same hardware.
Work to a rotary laser plane or shoot a benchmark and hold it. No base station, no subscription, no satellites.
Tilt buckets and cab rotation are handled, on mono and knuckle booms alike. The everyday excavator work is covered.
Magnetic plates and no cabling, so it comes off one excavator and onto the next in about five minutes. One system, your whole fleet.
What You Will Use It On

Hold the same depth the length of the run. No jumping out to check with a tape, and no backfilling what you cut too deep.

Every corner and every edge to the same depth, across the whole pad, without a grade checker walking it behind you.

Retention ponds, detention basins and water features dug to depth and slope without stakes or string lines.

Cut a batter on an embankment, a channel or a roadside slope and hold the angle, with the current angle on screen as you go.

Grade a line to fall, first pass. The display reads depth and distance to target straight off the cutting edge.

Bring it back to grade and finish clean, reading the cutting edge from the seat rather than stopping to put someone in front of the machine.
Grade, slope and dual slope
Horizontal, single slope and dual slope, all included. Set your target from the cab and the LED bargraph tells you where the cutting edge is on every pass.
± 1 cm — the same as the flagship
Not "close to". The same accuracy figure iDig publishes for the full TOUCH 2D. You are not buying a less accurate system.
Laser referencing included
Work to a rotary laser plane, or shoot a benchmark and hold it. Both are included — no base station, no subscription, no satellites.
Moves between machines
Multi-machine is included. Fit mounting plates to a second excavator and the system transfers across in minutes — one system, more of your fleet.
Tilt bucket and cab rotation
Tilt bucket support and cab rotation both carried over, so the system keeps up when the machine is not square to the work.
Mono and knuckle boom
Works on mono boom and knuckle boom machines alike, plus tape measure mode for quick distances off the bucket.
You Are Already Halfway To This
A rotary laser tells the site where grade is. It still cannot tell the operator where the bucket is. That gap is the man in the hole with a rod, and it is the part this closes.
Your laser keeps working
Laser referencing is included on LITE. Set your plane the way you always have — the system catches the beam and carries that grade into the cab. Nothing you own becomes obsolete.
The rod and the man come out of the hole
A laser plus a receiver on a rod still needs somebody holding it, in the excavation, next to a moving bucket. The operator reads grade himself instead.
Or work with no laser at all
Shoot a benchmark, hold it, and dig. On tight work where setting a laser is more trouble than it saves, you simply do not need one.
It is the next step, not a replacement
Most contractors buy a laser first and this second. If you already have the laser, you are buying the smaller half of the setup, not starting over.
Not sure your laser suits it? Call 1-877-866-5721 with the model and we will tell you — we sell the lasers too, so we know them.
The Cheaper The System, The Faster It Pays You Back
That is not a slogan, it is arithmetic. LITE costs about $4,000 less than the full TOUCH 2D and saves you the same money per day — so it pays for itself in a fraction of the jobs. On the right job, it pays for itself on that job.
One over-dig can cover it
Go deep on a trench and you pay twice — once to take the material out, again to haul it back, place it and compact it. On a long run that single mistake can cost more than this system. Make it once and you have bought the box.
Send the grade checker home
Every day someone stands in the hole with a rod is a day you pay two people for one machine's work. Take that off a job that runs a few weeks and the sum is not small.
Stop climbing out
Shut down, climb out, check with a tape, climb back in. A few minutes, twenty times a day, every day. That is hours a week of machine time you are already paying for.
No coming back to fix it
The trench that is two inches low gets done again on your time, not theirs. Rework never shows up on an invoice — it just quietly eats the margin on the job.
iDig puts payback at under a year, and that is for their full system. At $6,900 LITE gets there a good deal sooner. Most of our customers are not counting months — they are counting jobs.
Not sure it fits your work? Call 1-877-866-5721 — tell us what you dig and we will tell you straight whether this is the right system for it.
All Three Pieces, At The Lowest Price We Know Of
Plenty of systems give you one or two. This gives you all three, and it is the cheapest way we have found to get them.
Wireless solar sensors
U.S. patented, magnetic-mount, charged by daylight. No welding, no cable down the boom, and nothing to remember to put on charge overnight.
In-cab LED bargraph
Green, red and orange in your field of vision, so you read grade without looking away from the bucket. This is the part cheap systems leave out.
A touchscreen tablet
A real screen with the dig laid out on it, not a number on a box. Set depth, slope or dual slope from the seat.
Installed in an afternoon
iDig puts self-install at one to two hours. In your own yard, by your own people, with no shop visit and no machine downtime.
Found all three for less? Tell us what it is and we will take an honest look at it with you. We have not found one — and we sell this for a living. Call 1-877-866-5721.
Wireless, Solar, Yours To Install
Nothing welded, nothing wired
Solar-rechargeable sensors clip to magnetic mounting plates. No cable runs down the boom and nothing to charge overnight.
You install it
A morning in your own yard, not a day in somebody else's shop with the machine off the job.
No grade checker in the hole
Nobody standing in the excavation to check depth, and nobody climbing out of the cab with a tape.
Authorized dealer support
We spec it against your machine before you order, we build it, and we answer the phone afterwards.
$6,900
$6,900
There is no cheaper way into 2D machine control that we are aware of — not from iDig, and not from anyone else. Wireless solar sensors, an in-cab LED bargraph and a touchscreen tablet, at a price the category has not had before.
It is also about $4,000 under the full TOUCH 2D, for the same accuracy on the work most excavators do every day.
Order it above, or call 1-877-866-5721 and we will spec it against your machine first. Either way you are dealing with the people who set these systems up.
We are taking orders on it now. Call and we will confirm the build against your excavator before anything ships.
Two things to know before you order. LITE is 2D only and does not upgrade to 2D+ or 3D, and it does not run a skid steer. If you may want GNSS, a loader or full 3D on the same hardware later, that is iDig CONNECT — worth settling now rather than after.
What LITE Leaves Out
LITE is the full TOUCH 2D minus a handful of specialist capabilities. For most contractors none of them come up — but you should know what they are before you order, not after.
The full build adds a rotary attachment mode, blade guidance, clamshell and auger support, advanced 2D mode, distance measurement, a height alarm, the UR option for a double offset boom and underwater mode. If one of those is how you earn, buy the full TOUCH 2D and do not look back. If not, you are paying about $4,000 for capability that sits unused.

Order It, Or Talk To Somebody Who Sets These Up
You know what you need
Order it here at $6,900. Free shipping, and it ships from a dealer who builds these rather than a warehouse that ships boxes.
You install it yourself in an afternoon — no shop visit, no machine downtime, nothing welded to your excavator.
You want it checked first
Call 1-877-866-5721. Tell us your machine, your boom and the work you do, and we will tell you whether LITE covers it or whether you want the full TOUCH 2D.
If LITE is the wrong answer for you, we will say so. We would rather sell you the right system once than the wrong one twice.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between iDig TOUCH 2D and TOUCH 2D LITE?
LITE is the budget build of the same system. It keeps grade control on horizontal, single and dual sloped areas, tilt bucket, cab rotation, mono and knuckle boom, multi-machine use, laser referencing and tape measure mode. What it does not carry is rotary attachment, blade guidance, clamshell and auger, advanced 2D mode, distance measurement, height alarm, the UR option for a double offset boom, and underwater mode. That is iDig's own comparison from their 2025 brochure.
Is the accuracy the same as the full TOUCH 2D?
Yes. LITE holds the same accuracy and the same core 2D functionality as TOUCH 2D - plus or minus 1 cm, about 3/8 inch. You are not buying a less accurate system, you are buying a system that does fewer things.
Can LITE be upgraded to 2D+ or 3D later?
No. Like TOUCH 2D, LITE is 2D only and does not step up to GNSS or 3D. If you want that option on hardware you already own, that is iDig CONNECT. Settle it before you buy rather than after.
Does it work on a skid steer?
No. LITE is excavator guidance. A skid steer takes its height from satellites and needs a GNSS base station or rover, which is iDig CONNECT with the skid steer licence.
Can I buy the missing features later?
We are confirming that with iDig directly and we will not guess at it here. What we can tell you is exactly what LITE does and does not carry, because that comes straight from iDig's own 2025 comparison and it is printed on this page. If one of the missing capabilities matters to your work - height alarm and distance measurement are the two people ask about - call 1-877-866-5721 before you order and we will get you a straight answer rather than a guess.
Does it still move between machines?
Yes. Multi-machine is one of the capabilities LITE keeps. With a set of mounting plates on a second excavator the system transfers across in minutes.
Does it need a laser?
It works with or without one. Laser referencing is included on LITE, so you can work to a rotary laser plane or to a benchmark you shoot and hold.
