Upward (zenith) shooting laser with laser plummet
Why Crews Choose the QUAD 1000HDU
Zenith Beam to 2,000 Feet
A single upward beam carries plumb control to 609.6 metres — floor after floor, or the full height of a shaft, without re-establishing control on the way up.
Built-In Laser Plummet
A second downward beam acts like a plumb bob so you can set up directly over your reference point. No optical plummet, no tribrach, no string.
±5 Arc Second Accuracy
±1/32 inch per 100 feet (.793 mm per 30.48 m). The downward plummet beam holds 1 arc minute at 15 feet (4.57 m).
Temperature Compensated
Electronic servo self-levelling senses ambient temperature change while running and continually recalibrates, so the reading you take at dawn matches the one you take at noon.
Sealed Against the Job
Purged and dry-nitrogen filled to IP67 inside a heavy ¼-inch aluminium housing with a hard-coat anodised finish. Dust and water are not a factor.
One Button, Ten Seconds
Press power and the unit self-levels in under ten seconds. The beam blinks while levelling and goes steady when it is in spec. Battery and level status show on a backlit LCD.

QUAD 1000HDU vs QUAD 1000HDD — Which One Do You Need?
| QUAD 1000HDU — UP | QUAD 1000HDD — DOWN | |
|---|---|---|
| Main beam | Zenith — straight up | Nadir — straight down |
| Range | 2,000 ft (609.6 m) up | 2,000 ft (609.6 m) down |
| Second beam | Downward plummet, 1 arc min at 15 ft | None |
| Getting over the point | Use the built-in plummet beam | Mount a survey prism on the 5/8-11 top thread and traverse with a total station |
| 5/8-11 female thread | For a tripod | On top, for a survey prism |
| Typical use | Shooting up a shaft, high-rise plumb control, zenith transfer | Shooting down a shaft from a platform over an opening |
| Accuracy, housing, case, cord | Identical — ±5 arc seconds, IP67, 10.5 lb, same trivet, targets, cord and case | |
Both models are the same instrument in the same housing. The only question is which way your control has to travel. Need the downward version? See the QUAD 1000HDD — DOWN.
Accessories & Spare Parts
1140 Series Power Converter
Runs the laser at 13 VDC from 90–260 VAC. Senses the supply voltage automatically. The answer when there is shore power at the collar and you would rather not run off a battery all shift.
