Overview for the Spectra GL710 Grade Laser
Accurate up to 3,000 feet, the Spectra GL710 is an automatic, self-leveling single grade construction laser suitable for site preparation, trenching, pipe-laying and machine control. It includes an HL700 laser receiver for digital readout of elevation and NiCad batteries for long lasting performance.
The GL710 laser level features -0.5 to 25% grade range on a single axis and self-levels to 10%, making it ideal for general construction applications. You can mount this device on a 5/8-11 tripod thread.
Spectra Precision Laser CR600 Laser Receiver Spectra gives you the perfect level meter for site prep and general construction with this Precision Combination Laser Meter (CR600). It can be either rod or machine mounted, making it ideal for a variety of applications. Designed for tough construction site conditions, it is waterproof and has lightweight magnesium housing, which can withstand up to a 10-ft. drop onto concrete. Its simultaneous super-bright LED elevation indicators visibly indicate grade elevation information to the operator even in poor light and up to 350 ft. in bright sunlight. Plus, the adjustable bandwidth lets the operator tighten the on-grade band to easily meet a wide range of accuracy requirements with tighter tolerances from rough grading through form leveling.

Questions We Actually Get
Spectra Precision GL710-10 — Straight Answers
From Spectra Precision's own documentation for the GL700 series, which we host
on this site. If your question is not here, call 1-877-866-5721 and ask a person
who sets these up.
What is the grade range on a GL710-10?
Single axis, -0.5 to +25% on the Y axis. No X-axis grade - for grade on two axes at once you want the GL720 or GL722.
How does the GL710-10 differ from the GL710?
Same transmitter. The -10 package pairs it with the CR600 receiver instead of the HL700. The CR600 is the machine-mountable receiver, so this is the package to look at if the laser is going to be working to a machine rather than a grade rod.
How far will it reach?
900 metres - 3,000 feet - in diameter, and that is the same across the whole GL700 series. The range belongs to the transmitter, not the receiver, so it does not change with which receiver you pair it with.
What rotation speeds does it run, and which should I use?
300, 600 and 900 rpm, selected from the rotation-control button. For hand-held work on a grade rod any of them is fine. If you are running a machine receiver, use 600 rpm as a minimum and faster if you have it - the faster the head spins, the more times the beam crosses the receiver every minute and the more often the operator's display updates. On a dozer or a skid steer making quick changes in elevation, a slow laser leaves the display chasing the blade.
Which receivers does it work with?
Spectra Precision HL700 and CR600 receivers, and the Trimble LR410 machine receiver. The GL700 series is part of the Trimble Grade Control System family, so it also works alongside GCS300, GCS600 and GCS900 grade control systems for automatic lift and tilt.
Does it self-level?
Yes, automatically, across the whole grade range - which is what makes setup repeatable rather than something you fiddle with. It also carries active temperature compensation, so the beam holds its plane as the day warms up rather than drifting off it.
Is it built for a jobsite?
Fully sealed rugged aluminium housing, weather-resistant control panel, a built-in non-slip carrying handle and a protective lens hood for working in bad weather. The beam is high-powered and visible, which matters in dust.
What is the warranty?
Two years. Worth knowing: calibration is specifically not covered - keeping the laser in calibration is the owner's responsibility. We can check and certify one for you; call 1-877-866-5721.
Does this model have the radio remote?
No. The radio remote, PlaneLok, Grade Match Mode and Automatic Axis Alignment are the GL722 features. This model is the straightforward grade laser - set it up, set your grade, work to it. If you are regularly changing grade on a long pull, or you want to set grade from the cab, the GL722 is the one to look at and we would rather tell you that now than after you have bought.
Who am I buying from?
Contractors-Tools.com, an authorized Spectra Precision dealer. We set these up every week. Tell us the work and the machines and we will spec the laser and the receiver together before you order. Call 1-877-866-5721.
