LEICA 680
Dial the grade in on both axes and the laser holds it.
The Leica Rugby 680 takes a percentage on X and Y up to ±8%, re-checks itself as the day warms up, and works a 2,950 ft diameter with the Rod Eye 120.
LEICA PACKAGE6011159-K1dual axis
Two numbers. That is the whole job.
Arrow in the fall you need on X and on Y, press the grade button, and the Rugby 680 tilts its plane to match, up to ±8% on both axes. Leave both at 0.00% and it is a self-levelling horizontal laser for forms and footings.

Three things a dial-in grade laser does that a manual one cannot
You dial the grade in
Up and Down arrows and a grade button. Enter X and Y as percentages, up to ±8%, and the laser tilts the plane for you.
It checks itself through the day
Smart Slope watches the temperature. When it changes 5°C (or 2°C on FINE) the laser returns to level, checks, and goes back to your grade.
It knows when the tripod moved
H.I. Alert in level mode and Bump Alert in grade mode stop the beam from quietly working at the wrong height after a knock.
Five controls on one panel
- aUp and Down arrowsEnter a grade, or move through the Option Menu.
- bLCD displayX and Y grade on one screen. 0.00% on both axes is Level mode for forms and footings.
- cPower buttonTurns the Rugby on or off.
- dLaser emission LEDOn when the beam is on, flashing when the beam is flashing.
- eGrade buttonStarts grade entry and accepts settings in the Option Menu.
Handle, battery compartment and charge jack
Where to find each part on the Rugby 680 itself.
- aCarry handleMoulded grip for carrying the laser and setting it on the tripod.
- bLCD displayX and Y grade, battery and alerts on one screen.
- cButtonsPower, grade and the Up/Down arrows for dial-in grade.

What the spec sheet leaves out
Level mode
Grade shown as 0.00% on both axes: the Rugby 680 self-levels to a horizontal plane for forms and footings.
Bump Alert
Active whenever a grade is entered. If the tripod is disturbed the laser beeps; if the height has not changed, hold the grade button 1.5 seconds to carry on. FINE or COARSE in the Option Menu.
Smart Slope
Monitors ambient temperature. On a change of 5°C (COARSE) or 2°C (FINE) the grade mechanism returns to level, checks it, and returns to your grade.
H.I. Elevation Alert
On by default every time the laser is turned on; works in Level mode and on any axis left at 0.00%.
Grade memory
Set up the next morning, let it self-level, then hold the grade button 1.5 seconds: the Rugby 680 drives straight back to yesterday’s X and Y grades. Leica shows it holding the grade even with the battery taken out.
Grade steps
Grade enters in 0.05% steps up to 3.00%, and in 0.10% steps above 3.00%, out to ±8%.
Hands off while it sets
After the last button press the laser waits 8 seconds, self-levels, then drives the beam to your grade. Do not touch or bump it during this.
Option Menu
Hold the Up arrow and Power buttons 1.5 seconds. Set Smart Slope and Bump Alert (FINE, COARSE or OFF), H.I. Alert on or off at start-up, display contrast, and percent or per mil.
Batteries
The A600 lithium-ion pack runs the laser up to 75 hours on a full charge, and charges in a maximum of five hours. The laser also takes four D-cells in an alkaline holder.
