LEICA 620
Level it automatically, slope it by hand.
The Leica Rugby 620 levels itself inside ±5°, takes a manual slope in X, Y or both axes, and throws a 3,600 ft working diameter with the Rod Eye 160 Digital.
LEICA PACKAGE6005986-K1X, Y or both
Level it, or slope it by hand.
Press the power button and the Rugby 620 levels itself inside ±5°. When you need a fall, the Auto/Manual button takes the X axis, the Y axis or both out of self-levelling and the arrow buttons set the slope.
Leica Rugby 620 Kit — Package 6005986-K1
Leica Rugby 620 RED Beam Rotary Laser Package INCLUDES
Overview for the Leica 6005986-K1 Rugby 620 Red Beam Rotary Laser with Rod Eye 160 Digital and Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery, Aluminum Tripod and Grade Rod.
6005986-K1 Kit Includes: 620 Laser, RE 160 Receiver, Rechargeable Batteries, Tripod and Grade Rod / TENTHS
The rotating laser is designed for formwork and concrete applications. It comes with a lithium-ion battery pack and Rod Eye 160 Digital receiver, offering an operating range of 3,600 feet (1,100 m). It features an IP67 protection class, making it splash, water and dustproof.
- Self-leveling, horizontal laser
- Designed for general contractors who mainly perform formwork and concrete applications
- IP67 water and dust protection
- Manual Slope Capable in X, Y or Both Axes
Three things the Rugby 620 does so you do not have to
It levels itself
Set it up within ±5° and press the power button. The Rugby 620 levels both axes, starts the head turning and is ready for the receiver.
It slopes by hand when you need a fall
Press the Auto/Manual button to take the X axis, the Y axis or both out of self-levelling, then set the slope with the Up and Down arrows.
It knows when the tripod moved
About 30 seconds after levelling the H.I. Alert switches on. If the tripod is knocked or settles, both axis LEDs flash red so the beam is never quietly working at the wrong height.
Four buttons, three lights
- aUp and Down arrowsSet the slope for an axis that is in Manual Mode.
- bPower buttonPress to turn the Rugby on or off.
- cAuto/Manual Mode buttonOnce: X axis manual, Y self-levels. Again: Y axis manual. Again: both axes manual. Again: back to full Automatic.
- •X and Y axis LEDsSolid green when the axis is level, flashing green while it levels, red when it is in Manual Mode. Both flashing red is an H.I. Alert.
- •Low battery LEDOff when the pack is fine. Flashing slowly at 10% (about 4 hours) left, quickly at 5% (about 2 hours), red when it cannot power the laser.
Handle, battery compartment and charge jack
Where to find each part on the Rugby 620 itself.
- aCarry handleMoulded grip for carrying the laser and setting it on the tripod.
- bLED indicatorsLevel, low battery and H.I. status at a glance.

How to Use the Leica Rugby 620 Rotating Laser
The Leica Rugby 620 shines in grading and single-slope work: levelling for formwork, concrete and landscaping, with long-range operation, a durable build and auto-levelling.
- Slope work made simple. Add slope by hand in X, Y or both axes; the other axis keeps auto-levelling while one is sloped.
- Adjustable working range. Extend it to suit the job with the Rod Eye digital receivers.
- Rugged sites, no problem. Proven water and dust protection makes it a reliable partner in any conditions.
Watch Clint Smith of Leica Geosystems walk through more use cases and show how easy it is to set the axis slope.
How to Use the Leica Rod Eye 160 Digital Laser Receiver
The Leica Rod Eye 160 Digital receiver is the partner to your Leica Rugby, extending your working range.
- Clear digital readout. Large numbers make grade easy to monitor.
- Capture function. Store a height measurement and recall it when you need it.
- Anti-strobe protection. Filters out strong strobe flashes on site for reliable readings.

What the spec sheet leaves out
Automatic Mode
The Rugby always starts in Automatic Mode and levels itself if it is set up within the 5° self-levelling range.
Manual Mode: X, Y or both
The Auto/Manual button steps through X axis manual, Y axis manual, both axes manual and back to Automatic. A red LED marks every axis that is in Manual Mode; the Up and Down arrows set the slope.
H.I. Elevation Alert
Becomes active 30 seconds after the laser has levelled and keeps watching the position of the beam. If the tripod is knocked or settles, both axis LEDs flash red.
Batteries
The A600 lithium-ion pack runs the laser up to 120 hours on a full charge, and charges in a maximum of five hours. The laser also takes four D-cells in an alkaline holder.
